Our THIRD hike-a-thon proved to be even more fun than the last one!
The feature hike was outstanding!

It was a one-day Hike on Saturday, May 8, and all proceeds benefit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Air Clean-up effort. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll, short walk, or strenuous hike...the SMU Hike-a-Thon is a great reason to join us in our 'campus' efforts to have fun!  This year's funds are being donated to the Friends of the Smokies.

Registrants received an official SMU Hike-a-thon T-Shirt and an invitation to a great party at Bennett's Pit Bar-B-Que following the hike. Our featured hike was presented by John and Kat LaFevre, authors of the new great seller, Scavenger Hike Adventures.

Over 110 registered hikers participated from Sevier County and 5 other neighboring states.

Sunshine welcomed more than 100 Smoky Mountain Univeristy hikers from 6 states as they gathered at the Happy Hiker in Gatlinburg, Saturday morning for the THIRD Hike-a-thon planned to raise money for the Friends of the Smokies.  They hiked Alum Cave Bluffs, Ramsey Cascade, the Jumpoff and many other walk trails sporting their commemorative shirt received through their donatation to help air clean up in the "campus," otherwise known as the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The Hike-a-Thon again proved to be a whole lot of fun for a very good cause.

After their choice of hike, participants joined at Bennett's in Gatlinburg for a complimentary meal and social time.  Great food, drink, and door prizes were just the icing on the cake for even the littlest of hikers.  What better way can you think of to help raise funds for our National Park other than gathering with family and friends??  See you next time!

Thanks to the people who sponsored and participated. We appreciate you!
