You'll have an easy drive as you enter the campus of SMU. But be careful just the same. Sometimes it gets pretty wild around here. Watch out for Black Bear, Deer, Elk and Wild Boar crossing Main Street.

At our last Wild Boar Soccer Game the crowd was stunned as the SMU Boars nearly scored! Pictured above, the onlooking fans wait in frenzied anticipation as the snorting Boars attempt to reclaim possession of the ball for the second time
this season.

Our Amphitheater was built sometime during late Cretaceous Period and is definitely showing signs getting worn down. The seating capacity is tremendous but negotiating traffic in and out of events remains a problem even today.

This snapshot of the school cafeteria was taken in 1914. We have made a few improvements over the years like our new color photograph which is currently out on loan to the folks at the US Department of Health, but the basic structure remains the same to this day.

A Little History

Construction has been underway since 1892 utilizing the only techniques we can afford for building new facilities.  Completion of the new Men's Dormitory facility should be complete sometime in early 2016. Shown below is the newly completed Women's Dorm.

Professor George Sequoyah. Professor Sequoyah was appointed Dean of Indian Affairs shortly after the Civil War. Today, the Dept. of Indian Affairs has moved its facility to Harrah's Casino in nearby Cherokee NC.
